Marshlands Sensory Garden
**Latest Update**
25th July 2017
Just to give everyone an update as to where we are at with the sensory garden...
There is now a log cabin in place to be used as an outdoor teaching area. The garden in almost ready to be opened however the school will not be having the area health and safety assessed until September.
There are now apples and pumpkins growing and the herb garden is growing very fast.
We hope that there will only be minor amendments now and then the garden will be officially opened in early September.

Day 1 - Day 1619th July 2016
Little Laura began developing a sensory garden at Marshlands Special School on Sunday 3rd July 2016. Below shows the development to date and we hope to have this project completed by Spring this year, with the additional Sound section to complete (funds donated by Ravenhill Social Club) and an outside classroom (donated by Screwfix Foundation) . We plan to have an open day to hand the completed garden over to Marshlands school We have kept a log throughout the process and look forward to sharing with you the final result. |

The images above show the contrast of the initial garden to the garden after the first day of work. The picket fence was erected and the bamboo screening fixed into place. Two of the paths were dug and the arch way was fixed in place. We began planting trees within the taste section of the sensory garden.
The pictures above show the work completed by Tuesday 19th July 2016. At this point all the paths are dug and the herb garden has been planted. The planters have been moved onto the garden and some of the gravel has been placed down. The taste section is almost complete and we have now created a mountain of turf which needs moving to another area of the school grounds.
